Herbal Medicine and Nutritional Therapy
Explore how the natural healing power of herbal medicine, dietary change and nutritional supplements can help your body heal from within.
Herbal Medicine
Herbal medicine harnesses the natural ingredients and unique chemical healing powers of plants to create precise, targeted treatments for a variety of chronic health conditions. Plants are a wonderful, diverse resource packed with beneficial compounds that can nourish, heal, strengthen, and boost your health. I use a wide range of herbs to create herbal mixtures tailored to your needs, symptoms and medical history, which also work safely alongside any conventional medicines you are taking.
Herbal medicine creates strong foundations for good health.
You know your body best and are always in control. Sometimes we might have to try different combinations to find the best approach to suit you and your body, but patients are often surprised by how quickly they see results.
Did you know?
St John’s Wort, now known as an anti-depressant, was once believed to ward off lightning and evil spirits because its flower stalks form a cross when viewed from above.
The humble dandelion root is a liver tonic, while the leaves are a diuretic.
Hawthorn can be an effective treatment for heart failure. Studies show that patients who took hawthorn alongside their conventional drugs did better than those who used conventional medicines alone.
Echinacea, commonly used to ward off coughs and colds, was originally used by indigenous Americans as a cure for potentially fatal rattlesnake bites – and it worked!
The ancient Egyptians were using myrrh as an antiseptic 5,000 years ago, and it’s still used today.
Some conventional medicines are derived from herbs. Aspirin is made from willow bark.
Nutritional Therapy
What you eat has a huge influence on your health. Unlike your genetics, what you put into your body is something you can control. Nutritional therapy combines dietary change with nutritional supplements to address underlying imbalances and provide the extra nutrients your body needs to heal itself.
The two best things about nutritional therapy are that it can be personalised and (most of the time) you can still eat the things you like! I focus on gradual change, adding healthy foods to your diet rather than cutting things out. This helps you find a diet that you enjoy and supports your health, complemented with supplements to provide specific nutrients than cannot be obtained from diet alone.

What to expect from your initial consultation
At your first consultation we’ll discuss in detail your personal story, medical history, treatments, and any current medications you’re taking. Together we’ll explore your symptoms, objectives, treatment options, and agree a treatment plan going forward. This may include a combination of herbal medicine prescription, nutritional supplements, and adjustments to your diet.
Above all, you need to feel happy with the approach to enable your body’s return to health. If this means making changes a little at a time then so be it.
