Frequently Asked Questions
It’s normal to have questions when exploring a fresh approach to personal health and wellbeing. If you can’t find the answer you’re looking for below, please get in touch.
By choosing a qualified medical herbalist you are in the safe, expert hands of a trained professional. Every medicine I prescribe is safe to use and should cause no side effects. If you are taking any conventional prescription medicines, I will ensure the herbal medicines and supplements I prescribe will work safely and effectively alongside them.
You don’t need to see your GP before a consultation with me or request their permission. Some patients like to mention their visit to their GP and I’m perfectly happy for you to do so. It’s your choice.
Absolutely. Client confidentiality is something I take very seriously. Electronic patient questionnaires are stored on a secure server and paper copies of patient notes are kept in a locked cabinet in line with GDPR guidelines. Patient records are retained for a period of six years from the last time of contact. After six years have passed, records will be deleted or shredded. I don’t share patient data with anyone or any organisation.
My usual practice room is located on the first floor. If you have mobility issues, please mention this on booking and we will ensure access to a ground floor room.
The principal difference is that herbal medicine treats the individual, while conventional medicine focuses on treating the disease or illness. The types of medicines prescribed by each are also very different.
I am happy to liaise with your GP at your request.

Prior to your initial consultation I will email you a patient medical health questionnaire for you to complete and return to me before your appointment. It’s quite in-depth, so please give yourself plenty of time to fill it in. I may also ask to see copies of recent blood test results, which you can obtain from your GP.

This list is not exhaustive. Please ask if you have a condition you’d like treated that is not mentioned here.
This will vary according to your state of health and how quickly you respond to treatment. Chronic, long-term problems generally take longer to clear than newer, recent conditions.
Store herbal medicines at room temperature, away from heat, bright light and strong smells, and out of the reach of children.
There are no tests involved in a standard consultation. Private tests can be arranged if we agree this will be beneficial for your treatment.
